From Dependabot alert to tested fix
Konvu is a Dependabot alternative for vulnerability remediation. It investigates Dependabot alerts in your code and deployment, documents whether each is exploitable, and opens a tested fix PR for the findings that need one. Your engineers get the evidence behind the decision and a change to review.
Dependabot automates dependency updates. Konvu takes on the investigation and upgrade repair that otherwise fall to your team. See how Konvu prepares a fix.
Spend engineering time on exploitable findings
In Q3 2026, Dependabot opened 384 alerts on our own repositories. Konvu assessed 10 as exploitable. Only one of the 21 critical alerts was exploitable. These results cover our repositories that quarter. Read the analysis.
Konvu checks the conditions behind each finding: the installed dependency, the runtime and configuration, the vulnerable code path, and the input an attacker would need to control. The verdict records what it checked and what settled the decision. Your team can approve a false-positive dismissal with that evidence attached. Inconclusive findings stay open.
That changes the work sent to engineering. A high severity score starts an investigation; a confirmed exploitable finding starts a fix.
Get the upgrade through your tests
A security fix can require more than changing a version. A parent dependency may block the patched version, or the required upgrade may remove an API your code uses.
Konvu resolves the upgrade path, reads the changelog, rewrites affected call sites and runs your test suite. The fix arrives with the finding it addresses and the evidence behind the change. Your team reviews and merges it. The remediation workflow covers dependency upgrades and fixes to your own code from connected SAST tools.
Dependabot security updates check whether the dependency graph permits an upgrade and propose a fixed version. GitHub also lets a person assign an alert to an AI agent to propose a fix. Konvu combines the exploitability investigation and remediation in the same workflow.
Compare the remediation work
| Work to complete | Dependabot | Konvu |
|---|---|---|
| Decide what needs fixing | Advisory matches, auto-triage rules and supported reachability analysis | Exploitability investigation with evidence from code and deployment context |
| Prepare the upgrade | Security update PR to a fixed dependency version | Resolve the upgrade path and repair affected application code |
| Verify the change | PRs trigger your configured CI | Run your tests and work through the changes the upgrade requires |
| Explain a dismissal | GitHub alert management and auto-triage rules | Approved dismissal writes back to GitHub with the evidence linked |
| Cover other finding types | Dependency vulnerabilities | Dependency and code findings from your connected scanners |

Go beyond a reachable call path
Dependabot offers reachability analysis in public preview for JavaScript and TypeScript on GitHub Enterprise Cloud. It uses CodeQL to find call paths to vulnerable functions. GitHub explicitly distinguishes reachability from exploitability.
Konvu checks the remaining conditions, including whether the required configuration is enabled and whether attacker-controlled input reaches the vulnerable operation. The evidence names the condition that decides the finding. A call path becomes part of the investigation, rather than the final answer.
Move security remediation to Konvu
Keep Dependabot alerts enabled for detection. Konvu reads those findings through its GitHub App. The separate Konvu Autofix GitHub App opens fix PRs; automatic PRs are opt-in per repository. The integration page lists the permissions and controls.
When Konvu takes over security PRs, turn off Dependabot security updates for that scope in repository settings. Keep routine version updates if you need them, and review overlaps with security upgrades. Your team handles existing bot PRs and reviews and merges Konvu's fixes.
Try it on your own backlog
Run Konvu against the alerts your team is investigating today. Review the exploitability evidence and the work completed in the fix PR, including the code changes and test results.
